1. Left 4 Dead 2
Platforms: PC, Xbox One.
Four completely different people are forced to survive during the zombie apocalypse. They will have to go through several locations like a huge amusement park and a small town, meet other survivors and kill a lot of zombies.
Left 4 Dead 2 is a shooter from valve studio, in which you need to move from one shelter to another, exploring locations along the way and fighting off the dead. Thanks to the “Director” system, which has useful items and weapons on enemy locations, depending on the behavior of the players, each passage is different from the previous one.
2. The Forest
Platforms: PC.
The Forest is a survival simulator that can be played by a company of up to eight people. In the story, the characters crash on a small island and must hold out until help arrives. Soon, it turns out that a creepy tribe of cannibals lives on the island.
Enemies create additional tension when collecting resources. Their behavior is chaotic: they can either stand in the distance or suddenly attack – alone or with the whole osprey at once. It’s intimidating and discouraging, even when playing with friends. And as they progress, players will encounter even more terrifying creatures living in the deep caves of the island.
3. Dead by Daylight
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.
Action with asymmetric multiplayer – four teenagers try to escape from one killer with superhuman strength and endurance. To win, survivors must run several generators. This is a difficult task because the levels are created procedurally, and it takes several minutes to start one generator.
The most interesting thing about Dead by Daylight is the need to constantly make decisions. Try to start the generator or run away? To save a comrade or to abandon? The game creates dozens of difficult situations in which you have to react quickly and adapt.
4. Killing Floor 2
Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One.
In Killing Floor 2, players need to fend off zombies and other evil spirits coming in waves. For each monster killed, they give money – they can buy weapons or ammunition.
The difficulty increases with each wave, and there are more and more opponents. Periodically there are bosses – powerful enemies, each of which needs a special approach. The main thing in Killing Floor 2 is cooperation and mutual assistance, because individually the survivors will not last long.
5. Obscure
Platforms: PC.
Obscure is a series of two games about teenagers who encounter creepy monsters first at school and then at university. The gameplay of both parts of the game resembles the first parts of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. You need to study the environment, collect items, solve riddles and fight enemies.
There are a lot of really violent and bloody scenes in obscure. It is better to play games with a friend, sitting at the same computer – it is both easier and more fun.
6. Dead Space 3
Platforms: PC, Xbox One.
By the third part, the Dead Space series completely ceased to frighten, but it got a cooperative. Now you can solve physical puzzles and shoot the limbs of necromorphs together with a friend.
And if you add to this the ability to create your own guns and change costumes, as well as the plot about the salvation of mankind, you will get one of the most exciting cooperative actions in the industry.
7. Cry of Fear
Platforms: PC.
Cry of Fear is a free psychological horror game that grew out of a modification for the first Half-Life. The co-op campaign here is different from the single one: these are two different stories that only the scene of the action connects.
Players here will have to travel through Stockholm captured by otherworldly forces. On the way, they will meet terrible creatures resembling monsters from the Silent Hill series. Cry of Fear always keeps in suspense: there are few bullets, there is darkness around, enemies are waiting somewhere around the corner – in a word, fun.
